Help No network icon

My new galaxy s on 3 UK works fine,but there is no network icon in the display.
Every other phone i own has the 3 icon at the top of the display.

I just got the galaxy s plus and have the same issue. The mobile network and roaming is ticked on and work but I do not see the icon. Also When I installed addons to activate/deactivate on demand all they say are deactivated yet the connection is still open. I see no replies on this and its nearly a year old but hope some one knows why or how.

So you don't have no icon nothing to the left of the signal reception icon..??
And your internet browser works fine yeah..?
have you checked out xda developers website for issue wroth icon..

I manually set an APN for my provider and now get an icon when 3g is active, problem I have now though is when I use a power app and try to disable the mobile network (usually works when app renames APN from Internet to internetdisabled) The app (various) say disabled but the icon is still showing and the network is still open. Does the Galaxy GT 9001 handle mobile networking differently as on my wildefire with Android 2.3.7 & 2.1 the apps like apndroid do disable the network and activate it again when used.
Oh yeah I am using the stock android 2.3 as the phones only a week old so dont wanna flash/root it yet.

Only way to deactivate and activate mobile/roaming network on this galaxy is via settings and tick or untick them.
