Help No notifications

I'm running Kit Kat on an LG G3. I'm not getting ANY notifications whatsoever, even from the apps I have the notifications option checked in the app manager tab in settings. No notifications from gmail or my calendar. Can anyone help?

Did you happen to turn off the sound notifications in each of your apps like you wanted in this thread?

Go into each app and set the notification sound to what you desire.
Is your main notification sound volume turned up?

The problem now appears to be I only get notifications from the app I want when I connect to wi fi. This makes no sense. There's only one app I really want notifications from - a sports app. I have the notifications checked for it in the app manager section and in the app itself, but I only get notifications when I connect to wi fi, and then I get a flood of old notifications I missed since the last time I was connected to wi fi.

Hmmm, do you have a data connection when not connected to wifi?
