Samsung galaxy s6 or s5 will not get oreo, as well with note 4 and 5. Lg g3 and g4 will not get it too. Although lolipop+ supports all apps, so there are no problems. Also, any phone made in 2013 or above will be fine for now. Oreo is premium, only for a tiny portion. Nougat is getting quite common. Marshmallow very common and lolipop too. Kitkat is fine, but I'd recommend either a custom rom, or upgrade to a newer stock firmwre. So, if you're one o f those devices, or the s4, you're fine until 2019-early. IIDAA[If I develop any apps]. I would support android 4.3+. No need for the latest and greatest. Heck I know a lot of people are using windows 7. So stop fussing, oreo wanters. Lolipop is fine.

If you're rocking any of those devices, I reccomend you keep all 3 firmware versions somewhere, so you can get any if you have a bootloop or need some app that requires a newer android.

Few manufacturers offer more than 2 years OS updates, so it's not a huge surprise that 2015 handsets like the S6, Note 5 and G4 aren't getting Oreo (which was released 2.5 years after the S6 and G4) and no surprise at all for 2014 handsets.
