Help No outgoing sound in calls

Hey all. Yesterday, my phone spontaneously started having this problem; whenever I'm in a call, either outgoing or incoming, I'm told I have little to no outgoing sound. Some people told me they could barely hear me, or could only hear me if I yelled into the mic, while others couldn't hear anything at all. Is there any reason this would randomly start happening? Any fixes? I'm trying to avoid a factory reset/sd card format, but I'll do it if necessary.

You may want to check for any build up in the microphone area and if this does not appear to be the issue I would advise having an authorised repair agent take a look at it.

Ha, hadn't even considered that. It was totally a dust/lint buildup, clearing it out solved the problem. Thanks a lot!
