No overview Button Android Pie

Hi! I have a Google pixel XL with TWRP installed, not tired, but I can run it. It is running the latest version of Android Pie, and I had gesture navigation enabled. I wanted to disable it, but my overview button doesn't appear. I see back and home, but not overview. Any help?

Have you tried leaving that menu, opening the app drawer or something like that? I just tried an when I just unticked the button the overview button didn't appear immediately but when I went back home and moved around a bit it appeared (and now toggles back on/off the way you'd expect).

Rooting by itself shouldn't make any difference.

You don't have any navigation bar customisations? (There were none visible in the screenshot, but not all are visible).

Oh, sorry. I just saw that in the original post, I wrote 'not tired, but I can run it.' I meant to say 'not rooted, but I can root it.' The life of someone who uses glide on GBoard...

Another glitch occurred... I was using my phone, and the app I was using crashed, and my pixel is stuck on light more in the display settings. After changing settings, restarting, etc. Still nothing. I am open to flashing the factory ota. I can flash the factory image, although I don't want to. Duh. Also, substratum is not working, even with a real that either before this. (Yes, it does have root permissions.) Thanks!

Huh. Back on dark more. I flashed the OTA update from Google. Still no back button. Haven't tested substratum because flashing ota removed root.

It sounds like you've done a lot of tinkering with your device (even if it's not technically rooted at this time). That makes it exceedingly difficult to diagnose what's going on. I'd recommend reverting back to stock via a factory image so that you're starting from a known-good state.

Ok, I will do that later, and update you then. Can I make a titanium backup then restore it, it would that make it hard to diagnose?

I flashed the factory image, my phone is currently restoring data from google backup. No root, twrp, etc, on latest android pie. My overview button is back! Unless you think I shouldn't (past the obvious reasons,) I am going to install twrp and root with magisk when this is done.

Awesome, glad to hear that restored normal function.

As always, if you root or otherwise modify the system software then you're kind of on your own. That just introduces too many variables to be able to effectively troubleshoot issues like this.

Do it if you want, just know that you proceed at your own risk. :)
