No pictures in Messenger

Just last night j stopped getting images that people were sending over the Messenger app, the one that comes with the phone.
It now says 'Message not found' every time.
I have size set on Best Available and restrictions set on Free.
I doubt it's my carrier, T-mobile, I'm on unlimited.
Any ideas?

Messages, as in text messages arrive at your phone through your carriers voice network. If the text of the message exceeds 160 characters it will either be split and sent as two (or more) messages or converted to an MMS message. MMS is how photos and other media attach to SMS.

MMS requires a data connection and most carriers require it to be mobile data, not wifi. If you are turning off mobile data or have no signal, then the text will come through but not the picture.

You could also have incorrect APN settings which would have the same type of symptoms. Did you change anything recently?

Turns out the person sending the photos just had to restart their phone (Galaxy S8+)

It's all good now.
