Android Question

My phone is a Nexus 7 with Telus (Canada). For the last few months for some reason when I'm using the wifi connection at work, my phone doesn't get push notifications. It will get text message notifications but it won't notify me of tweets, emails, facebook messages, google chat etc. However, it gets these notifications through wifi just fine anywhere else except work! The minute I leave the building my phone goes crazy with every notification I've received throughout the day. I can turn off wifi and leave it on 3G all day to get my push notifications, but I hate using data unnecessarily when there is a wifi connection. Is there anything I can do on my phone to fix this or is it a weird with my work's wifi connection? Everyone else in my lab with androids gets their push notifications no problem on the same wifi network. Thanks in advance for any insight!
