Help No Service Problem Samsung Galaxy Ace IMPORTANT

Hi,
My name is Michael and I am 12 years old. I recently purchased a used Samsung Galaxy Ace. I wanted to test if it was unlocked, so I put my sisters telus sim card into it. I powered it on. The phone said No Service/Emergency Calls Only. I then thought that my phone was locked because the lady I purchased it from said that it was used on virgin mobile. So today, I was going to go to a store to buy a sim card and activate it on a plan. But I wanted to make sure it worked on virgin mobile so put my mom's virgin mobile sim card in my phone and again Got the message No Service/ Emergency Calls Only. I tried sending a text. Nothing worked. I then realized that there was something wrong with my phone. So I went online and found out other users have had the same kinds of issues. But I couldn't find any working solutions to the problem.

Is there an easy fix to this?

Do I have to bring it to a shop to get fixed?

Can I fix it on my own?

Is this just a glitch?

I diont want to spend alot of money on parts to fix it (I know how to fix phones, but as I am a kid I do not have a lot of money to buy parts)

(It turns out this phone is unlocked. I found out by typing in a code in the phone.)
If you have any info on this please reply. Thanks!

Hey Mike, welcome to the forums! :)

Is it at all possible it's been blacklisted and there's an IMEI block on it? Where did you buy the phone earlier? EBay or similar?

It could be possible, but I dont really think it is. I bought it on kijiji, a local ad posting website and met the lady in person. If it is blacklisted is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks!

I'm not sure how things work over the pond unfortunately, there's very little you can do over here though. :(

Have you tried calling Virgin or Telus? They should be able to tell you whether or not the IMEI is blacklisted.
