Help No Signal Found for Mobile Networks

Hello,

Hoping that someone can help me, I am a bit rubbish with technology so you may need to dumb stuff down a little for me I am afraid. I purchased a Galaxy S3 from Ebay to replace my old one and it was sold as unlocked to any network but when I put my SIM in and try to send a text message I get this message displayed and it won't send: 'No Network Connection - No Signal Found for Mobile Networks'.

Have I been sold a dud phone or is there something I need to do to set it up that I have somehow missed maybe? Hope that you can help me.

If, and only if, the phone is actually unlocked *and* compatible with your service provider, you can put in your SIM and go.

I've had an S3 before and it worked fine with my 3 Sim card, so I assume this means that the phone is compatible? So has it therefore been mis-sold and is not actually unlocked do you think?

That website tells me it is compatible with 3G, but nothing else.

There's many versions of the S3. You will need to know the exact model to accurately determine compatibility. That can be a bit complicated. This page I found has pretty good instructions on how to do it:

Depending on what carrier you have, you may need to call them to register the phone on the network. It's not always a matter of just popping in the SIM.

That link is just coming up with stars for me and does not load a web page? I put in all the details it asked for, this phone is a GT-i9300 like my old one - is that what you mean?
