No turn by turn

Not sure what happened but I don't have turn by turn voice navigation in google maps anymore. Now, as I'm traveling, instead of hearing voice turn by turn, all I hear is a chime when the next turn is due. Yes, the media volume is turned up.

Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?

Did you use to have it? Try rebooting or make sure you have a signal. As long as you have 3G or wifi you should get turn by turn in Nav. Or try Navfree, you can download offline maps and not need a signal.

Just updated to v6 of Google maps and noticed that I had to download voice instructions when I turned on navigation for the first time afterwards. Maybe you have to? Not sure when or why this happened as I rarely use navigation but keep maps up to date. I've also rooted and flashed a new ROM ..... so my whole post may be moot as far as you're situation is concerned ...

Check your text to speech settings. I had to go through and redo mine the other night, but I use svox.. I'd say uninstall any text to speach stuff that you have, along with google maps, and do a reinstall of the apps, and reset up of it, but check the settings in the text to speech stuff. Settings / voice input - output
