No wireless charging?

It looks like the Nexus 5X isn't going to have wireless charging. I'm really bummed out about that. I hope there will be a way to hack it, like you could do with the LG G4. Do you care about wireless charging at all?

I don't really care much about it, never found it entirely inconvenient to just plug the charger in. Then again, I don't have a very big house so it's not as if I need to take it from room to room often.

I don't think wireless charging is good enough to become a deal breaker yet. At least for me personally. It needs to be more seamless and easy to use and built into more things by default. Kind of similar to the lack of adoption in NFC in my opinion.

At some point it will become a defacto standard but we're just not there yet... the technology isn't good enough or useful enough to be a mass market deal breaker imo.

It's a nice feature to have, but def not a deal breaker for me either.

Wifes Note 5 will charge completely on the wireless charger, then stop charging. Come morning she has 60% battery. Quirk with WC? My old Droid DNA was the same way...

Overall nice to have the option, but I could care less

For me, it's something major. No way I will go back to wire charging that I find really annoying. I got a qi charging pad at home, another one in my office. I can take my phone easily for a quick call and put it back after, with no hassle and my N5 always stay fully charged. When I go to bed, it's easy to just drop the phone on the charging station instead of fiddling in the dark.

Unless there is a qi compatible cover or something that get available, I guess I will keep my N5 longer than I expected or go with a LG G4 or a samsung that is QI compatible...

My guess is that Google has decided that most people prefer quick charging over Qi charging. The idea here is you could plug your phone it, use it all morning and, after coming back from lunch, charge it for 10 minutes and have it close to a full charge. The 6P specs claim a 10 minute charge gives 7 hours of use, on the 5X a 10 minute charge gives 3.8 hours of use.

For me this is a major loss. Wireless charging is one of those small-but-big features that streamlines my day. Definitely creates resistance to upgrading from my N5. I'll have to decide if the convenience of a fingerprint sensor overcomes it

Definitely disappointed when they didn't mention wireless charging today. I have two chargers at home (one for my girlfriend and I) and we both have them at work too.

Exactly, major cell phone features that will blow you away are far and few now that the product has matured. Its those little things that make a big difference like LED light and QI charging. When you look at it from a day to day 24/7 usage you'll realize how nice it is to have that wireless convenience. For super lazy moments when you're on the couch and you can just lean over and slide your phone over to charging pad is quite nice. My n7 doesn't have wireless charging so while its minor it always feels like more of a chore to plug it in. Also, my usb port was starting to get wonky so its nice to have that second charging option and not worry about the usb port. And a QI charger/holder in the car reduces the appearance of wires because its easier to conceal the wire from my car to the holder. And its just damn nice to have it in the office so I don't have to constantly plug/unplug.

My OG Nexus 5 with wireless charging AND 6.0 upgrade in the near future is a good deal for me. Maybe, just maybe the next Nexus will be worthwhile.

Will there likely be USB cases with Qi charging built into them? If that's a good possibility, I can live with it not being built into the phone. Being disabled, however, wireless charging is far easier for me than plugging in any type of cord. This makes me hope for some type of solution.

I would suspect wireless charging will make its way back onto a phone. Maybe next year's nexus or the ones after. With quick wireless charging coming its a compelling feature. I hate how we have to buy brand new accessories with every phone.
