Help Nokia 6.1 Android 9 remove Google search bar

So my partners Nokia 6.1 recently updated to Android version 9
And since then, a very annoying and seemingly impossible to get rid of Google Search bar has appeared at the bottom of the screen, taking up space and generally looking fugly.
How can we get rid of this?
I'm guessing my Nokia 8 is heading towards an update as well so I'm keen to avoid getting this bar.
Any clues?

Long press on the search bar and choose delete....
Otherwise you'll need to install a different launcher from the play store to resolve this problem

If Nokia are using a Google launcher then probably changing launchers is the answer.

The good news is that there are plenty of options, so you don't have to be stuck with whatever the manufacturer chooses.
