Nokia charger to mini usb

Hi,

My charger from HTC Tattoo broke. Then I thought of turning one of my old nokia chargers int a mini usb charger.

My Original power supply:
-Output: 5V --- 1A

My nokia charger:
-Output: 5V --- 880mA

I cut the cable from nokia charger and also cut the mini usb cable, then I connected the 5v wire from nokia to the red wire from miniUsb and GND from nokia to black wire from miniUsb.

When I plug the mobile phone nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

You'd try jumping the data wires (white and green) on the miniUSB.

BTW, while charging (with jumpered data wires) you'd watch the charger because it'd heat up when the phone is trying to draw up to 1A.
