can the android software be put on a device that does not originally support the android software/OS? such as the Samsung impression or possibly another phone...i'm really curious because the OS on it is really bland...can i somehow change the firmware to the android software instead?

it's been put on the iPhone. It's not very good, but it's been done.

Go to XDA. I know people running Android on a bunch of HTC Windows mobile phone with the full experience.
ok well thats fine and very interesting, but the Samsung impression doesn't even have Win-Mo of any kind...i did look on the website but have yet to find any posts that are relevant...i'll keep looking but if anyone has a specific link to the page, it would be extremely helpful

it is..in a way
it has the hardware...but not the software...which i'm trying to give it
i keep thinking i've got it...but then something happens and i don't...right now i'm trying to figure out how to access the current software to 'view' it...which is becoming trickery by the moment
Sure you could. You could load an OS onto it.

Android has a minimum requirements, like any other OS, and the Impression's measly memory isn't going to cut it. Not being a "real" smartphone and lacking any OS, I doubt it can even boot anything up that's not its original firmware.
There are also drivers problems, so even if you magically load Android onto it, chances are it won't function at all. No data, no wifi, no camera, no anything.
