Non-chromecast video capture?

I help run playtests for a mobile video game developer, and we've been having a lot of issues with Chromecast. For our playtests we need to stream video and audio to a computer, and the only way we've been able to do that is to have the player cast to Chromecast and have that attached to a video capture device. However, we are constantly having issues with video quality, and with the device disconnecting. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows of another solution we could use (preferably a physical cable) that might help with these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the device supports hdmi out you could use that... If it doesn't then plugging in the cable just won't work.

It would be a lot easier to make relevant suggestions if you provide some additional details on your home network.
-- What kind of router to you have? An ISP-supplied modem/router or do you own your own router?
-- General distances between your router, your Chromecast, and your computer or whatever device you're using that's experiencing those disconnections.
-- How many devices (computers, laptops, phones, tablets, printers, etc.) are connected to your home network? If you're experiencing connectivity issues with your LAN it might help to know what kind of additional traffic is flowing through it.
