As i was setting up Helium on my Windows-7 PC to do backup of my Samsung Galaxy s4, it occurred to me that i could simply copy the entire Phone filesystem over to my Windows PC. (I have already done a backup using Samsung smart switch, but that does not store data/settings of 3rd party apps). I have plenty of disk space on my PC, and simply hooking up with an USB and copy the entire "SAMSUNG PHONE" device to my C:\ drive would make sure i got all the files, in case i need to recover some files in an emergency (the chance of which seems rare, after 4 yrs of use without dropping or misplacing the phone anywhere).
ON my windows PC the device shows up as 10GB device, even though my phone has 16GB. This only means that android hides system files/partition or something. Will copying the 10GB to PC enough to recover the following data/settings in case of emergency ?
