Help Noob in need of HELP

I am new to the world of the Android phone and need a little help. I have a G1/Dream on the Rogers network. My problem is that i only have about 15 to 20 apps installed, none bigger than 1055kb yet when i go into SD card and phone storage it say that i only have 33 mbs of internal storage left, not sure what is going on, can someone plz help me with this, thanks

Contacts, texts, emails etc maybe using up phone memory resources.
