To answer your question though, Cupcake(1.5), Donut(1.6) and Eclair (2.0) are versions of the Android OS. Sadly I have no answer for rooting your Tattoo though, still looking for the answer myself.

thanks for the info....have been googling it cant really understand though....btw which will be a gd os to use???cupcake, donut or eclair??? will tatoo be damage aka brick if i root by following the root dount video???

They are just the nicknames for the OS versions

Cupcake 1.5
Donut 1.6
Eclair 2.0

You need to follow rooting for that specific device, not just the version OS (ie Donut like you mentioned)
