Noob to the forums and to Android

Hi there! I'm a newbie not only to these forums but also to Android smart phones as well. I'm from the Philippines and I recently got the Samsung Galaxy S3. It was a toss up between that and the iPhone 4S as I was due for a new phone thru my local carrier Smart. I ultimately decided to get the S3 and I'm glad to say I haven't regretted my decision.

So being the noob that I am, please bear with me if I post some noob questions. Thanks in advance!

I have always liked current technology, and bought a Samsung Precedent and a Transformer 300 tablet. , I wanted to ask my question in the appropriate forum but was told that my first post had to be here. ANYWAYS, I want to root my Samsung Precedent for the purpose of tethering my Transformer 300 tablet. I know that this thread is called "Idiots guide:Samsung Galaxy Precedent", but I am a COMPLETE IDIOT! I was wondering if there is a step-by-step guide like 1) plug the phone in, 2) Put shoes on AFTER your pants, 3) Push this button......etc. I would appreciate any help with this matter. P.S. I had already downloaded the KMS4.0 file and Factory_Straight_Talk_precedent_root file (just in case things go south!). Also should I be concerned about my carrier finding out about my "rooting"? And should I install some other software to aid in keeping it a secret?
