My samsung ace 2 is not letting me connect it to the computer as a media device, what do i do

Do you mean connection using MTP protocol? What operating system? Windows 7 and later and Linux has the drivers installed, for lower Widows version (I don't know about Mac) you probably need to install drivers (head to Samsung website).
Or do you mean Mass storage (USB drive)? For this, you definitely need drivers from Samsung. The easiest will be to install Kies, drivers are included in the package. I've tried to install just drivers for Samsung device without success, for other phones it was enough to install just drivers, but Samsung screwed it.
