Help Not happy with ICS. Revert back to GB 2.3.6?

KCN080

Hi,

My S2 got the upgrade to ICS 3 days ago and I cannot tell you how unhappy I am with it. Like others my battery life is significantly degraded. But even if that were to improve, there are still a number of issues: awful bluetooth connectivity, loss of music/playlist features, worse 3G speed, screen sometimes never turns off, difficult time connecting to my PC, slower overall speed of the phone, and more. And this is after I had to fix other issues such as Swype and restoring my playlists and bluetooth connections that were deleted. Overall I hate this OS and wish I had never installed it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to revert back to 2.3.6? I've searched pretty extensively and haven't found any clear cut answers. I dislike ICS so much that I would consider going with a totally new phone at this point.

How exactly do you perform a hard reset? And wouldn't it erase the ICS update if you manually placed it in phone?

I have tried a few hard resets hoping it would help but no such luck. This update happened automatically on my phone.

I'm with you KCN080. :(

I ask almost the same question and the few replies I got basically said I'll have to root then flash an older GB rom
I have tried re-boots and re-sets too.
I am not happy with ICS on my S2 phone!

Now, on my tablet ... :D
ICS is working great, go figure? No, Asus is Supporting their products unlike Samsung & even less sprint.

Lateck,

What if you factory reset the phone ? Does it go back to GB and prompt for download ?
I did a factory reset and all that did is wipe the saved programs and information. I lost all my contacts etc....
My "Missing Sync" program is not working with ICS on my phone, it works on my tablet's ICS (go figure?).

It will not revert to GB....

Lateck,

You can't remove it. You'd have to root the phone and put an older ROM on it. Resetting it only restores the "factory" state of the current OS, it won't revert to an older one.

Man, add me to the spitting-nails crowd. My phone worked at 10:00 p.m. last night and this morning, half my apps are blanked. Says they're on the SD card: they're not. At least I still have my contacts.

What in the heck is wrong with these people!! I asked the Sprint rep that question, poor thing, and she said there was a "glitch" in the update. No kidding. I'm usually the soul of understanding when dealing with the reps, but will admit to more than a little peevishness. Good Grief@!!

In addition, I have a new ASUS 700 with ICS and it's just lovely.

Think at this point, I'll reload the apps rather than reset to GB. With my luck, I'd wipe the danged thing out for sure.

Dangggg!

thanks for the link above. I'll have to try that out in the morning.

for me, I've had issues with my wireless connection when I'm in my home not staying connected and when I go back into my phone after not using it for a little while, I have to disconnect and reconnect the wireless for it to work.

also I noticed, like others, that the phone is slower and sometimes locks up the buttons to go back to the home screen.

this didn't happen on the other version prior to the update.

I must amend my words a couple of posts up. I did NOT receive ICS. Apparently, it was some other bug that occurred, which a very competent Sprint phone rep solved. I am experiencing weird battery life, something I did not have before: it'll drop 30% in two hours with nothing happening. I have no idea why and am trying to live with it.

But after reading all about ICS, I'm refusing it now that it truly is popping up as a notification. A Sprint store rep told me yesterday he loves it and I'll only read about the gripers. I thought that was a snarky thing for him to say in as much as he represents Sprint as a whole.

Anyway, I'm too tired of messing with electronics that don't work after an update so I'll ignore the update....maybe forever. :)

I upgraded then flashed back. After a couple days I got the upgrade pop-up again. It was persistant 10 or more times a day, but after a couple days of "upgrade later", it FINALLY stopped!! I have NO PLANS of upgrading anytime soon. :smokingsomb:

My push notifications to upgrade are fewer and fewer. My weirdness with the phone came to a head today: sent a text to my daughter. Wouldn't go. Did it again, wouldn't go. Then I noticed my digital clock said February 2, 2001.

How in the world something like that happens, I'll never know. But I reset the Time/Date from Settings and all's well with my world. Battery life is back to what it was, I'm laying low and hoping the ICS fairy flies over me. What the heck's with these people.
