"Not Helpful"?

I know this sounds like a pain but I think if someone is willing to take the time to write up a fairly extensive review for an application - then the person who chooses to down-rank or mark it "not helpful" should at least leave a comment in the discussion field as to why they felt so. It not that I take personal or anything, but it would go a long way as to help me write future reviews.

Its a decent review - and I just don't know how someone would feel it was "Not Helpful".

hmm...that's actually a very in-dept review. Only 3 reason I'd think someone would click on the thumb down button: 1) it was an accident or 2) it was to spite you, lol...or 3) maybe it's too detailed and long...and they wanted something short.

I can tell you put a lot of time writing up that review. Usually reviews don't have a guide to installation, so that's one thing I like about your review.

I think it's a good review, keep it up

Just a suggestion if you're going to do more reviews, the conclusion, should summarize the pro and cons and what it means to you. The suggestion on improvement is nice...but I don't think it should be part of the conclusion.

It is quite lengthy but generally very good. I wouldn't worry about the odd thumbs down, it's the total that counts and the review is at +2 at the moment. Keep up the good work!

Remember that everyone has the right to their own opinion. If someone does not find your review helpful they have the right to express that opinion in the same way as those who liked it.

If you decide to write something for the public always be ready for criticism, if you are not ready for it do not write.

(S)he clearly states in their first post, it is not the criticism that matters but not knowing why the thumbs down was given in order rectify the criticism.

Why didn't I think of that! I editted it to include that. I'll make sure to do the same for the other reviews I am working on as well. Thanks again!

Exactly. He... as in me ... just wants to make my next reviews better, or if there was a misunderstanding to clean it up. I am not taking it personal at all, I just want my reviews to be "helpful" to people, haha. I see that I may have made it too long (or in-depth), but I felt the app needed the attention! Appreciate the feedback!

I think I read too many reviews XD Reviews are very similar to a written paper (essay/report) in that you have introduction body/support and conclusion. When your review is long and detailed, you need to remember that the conclusion needs to be clean and concise This is what stays with the reader at the end of the day.

Plus...I'm the type that goes to the conclusion for the summary So you might want to include a little note at the beginning of your review stating that for those who just want the final verdict.

I editted it to include that. I'll make sure to do the same for the other reviews I am working on as well. Thanks again!

I brought it to Rob's (owner) attention of the fact that the yes/no buttons are not very helpful as a critique for the review. This was his response to my post.

Rob, just an idea not sure if it's feasible or even possible. When people click on the 'yes' or 'no' button to 'was this review helpful', would you be able to create a text box popup that they can write why they chose 'yes' or 'no' and have that inputed as a post to its thread in AF? I think this will enable people to write something since...I can see people just clicking yes/no only. I don't think a lot of people will specifically go into 'discuss in Forum' unless there's something about the review they don't like.

@Roze that's an interesting suggestion but I don't think we'll include that immediately. I'm a bit wary of adding too many click-heres and this pops up and jump over here etc.... it's kind of confusing already
