Not sure where to put this...

To me though i guess.. you're wrong...

This isn't about someone who is famous, having a tantrum about "don't look at me"
This was appalling behavior by some jerk in a car.
If it was only a jerk in a car it would be terrible... but it isn't. Women get this abuse all the time... and this individual incident throws it into sharp relief.

I don't have to deal with it... I'm going to go out on a limb and guess its not something that has been a problem for you either. my wife has though, and my sister, and the way the world is going I have no reason to believe my daughter won't.

It sucks.... and while i can't do anything to change what other people do, I can damn well make sure that I don't turn a blind eye, legitimise it, or laugh at people when it happens to them.

psionandy..i agree women should be given the respect they deserve.
no one should belittle or objectify anyone else.. generally.

but...i think i side with rootabaga on this... i see his point.

if AG had a stage presence that is a very sexual character...
but in real life.. she dressed less sexual as most women do..
then i would side with her and can see her hurt.
Her real life.. looks like her creative expressions.

if a woman dress slutty (the way they do on holloween).. and walks down the street..
and gets cat-calls.. then yells about being objectified..
yeah... i am going to laugh!

you cant dress to get attention... then bitch when i look!

and if the same girl.. dressed NOT slutty... walking down the street...
gets cat-calls.. i would back her up.

How is she not a victim? You DO seem to be blaming her for it... how dare she cry 'foul' because of the action of someone you've agreed is a jerk.

Apparently you live in a world where it is ok to for a man to say to a complete stranger "Well done for F**King her" right in front of her face. If this isn't making her into an object, then what is.

The fact that someone has played a role on stage, or made music videos, published a book or written a game review does not legitimise this.

Brian Cranston doesn't get arrested by police when he walks down the street.
Kit Harington doesn't get people trying to kill him with swords

But the rules seem to be different for Zoe Quinn, after she published a computer game. Or Sarah Milican because she wore a dress and then went on twitter... or any woman who goes on twitter and expresses an opinion about anything.

In your world, and following the logic, SHE is responsible for this as she " have purposefully put themselves in the public eye "

In that case you COMPLETELY missed my analogy.

Actors and entertainers are human beings and not the same as the characters they portray.

So while Mr Cranston doesn't get treated like a drug dealer, any female actress gets treated like a slut*

*but hey, you're cool with that because she gave up her right to be treated as a normal woman** when she became an actress. (and since no blood was spilt, she should stop complaining and stay silent, so she doesn't upset the boys)

** and it doesn't matter than any normal woman gets treated like that anyway, if they do something crazy like post a youtube video, make a game review, write a book, go on a bus or walk down the street.....
