Note 4: Camera Startup Alternatives?

I've got a Note 4 coming tomorrow and one feature I like on it is DoublePress Home bringing up the camera.

But when I was looking at other phones, I saw something by Motorola called Moto X Pure that was *really* slick: as you draw the device from your pocket, you rotate your wrist back-and forth as it is coming out and the camera is loaded and ready to go by the time you have the phone in front of you.

One smooth motion and "Click!".... Somebody or something is on Candid Camera.

Had to think that, since the Samsung device has a various motion-sensing capabilities.... maybe the twist-as-you-draw functionality or something similar might have been implemented on Samsung by some third-party developer.

??

You can use Macro apps to make anything like that happen.

For instance, MacroDroid being one I favor has a lot of triggers to choose from.
Then select the app 'boot an app' or words to that effect....

say maybe:

Trigger: Shake Device
action: Launch Application
Select Application: Camera

Even Nova Prime will let you assign some gestures. I just looked at my Nova settings on Moto X pure, and camera is included in gestures. You need to assign the swipe or whatever.

My N5X uses a double press of the power button and it actually works pretty well - the home button thing may work better than you imagine.

The great thing about the double twist to start the camera on my Droid Turbo is that it will work with the lockscreen on.

I had forgotten about that feature in Nova Prime.... saves using another app.

Exactly: one continuous motion.... reach in pocket, grab camera, pull it out - twising the hand along the way, and by the time it is at eye level it can be recording.
