Help Note 4 Charging Cables

Lurker
Since I got my note 4 about 2 years ago it has legitimately turned every micro USB cable into a brick. It isn't even the charging cube but rather it's the cable's that don't work anymore and won't work with other accessory's. Anyone know why this is or have similar issues?

Hi,

First of all: Welcome to the forums!

I have had my Note 4 for about the same amount of time and charge it in three places:
1. beside my bed
2. At work.
3. In my car

The charger I use at work is the original brick/cable combo from my good old Note 1. Four years down the line and it is still kicking. In the car I have a two year old amazon basic 12v adapter with a separate cable. This one is also still working like a champ. The bed charger was my Nokia N900 charger which was six years old. Note the past tense in the later case. This charger was working great until my wife started to use it (a few months ago) and then it broke. My wife has a nasty habit of using the phone while it is charging (she has my old Note 3). I get the feeling that micro USB does not take well to being continuously flexed. I have gone through large numbers of cables in the places where my wife and kids charge (and use) their phones, but my exclusive cables seem to work just great (I leave the phone alone when charging).

So, yes, I think that micro USB is easy to kill, but I can't see how the phone has anything to do with it. More likely to be a mechanical issue.

Regards,
Eric.

I buy the OEM Samsung 2.1 amp white wall wart and matching cables in bunches....
I have them all over the place.... I just leave them plugged in so I can just grab a cable, and not go looking for something.

when a cable goes bad, I just throw it in file 13...
grab a new wall wart pack, open it up and off I go again with a new cable that is guaranteed to carry the full charging current.
