ive spent the day bouncing from site to site looking at various ways to root.
my mind is now blown!
im trying to avoid these one click apps as it would appear they arent all the seem acording to various reviews.

does anyone know a reliable up to date guide to root a samsung note 4 running marshmellow 6.0.1

kind regards

Which specific model of the Note 4 do you have? (For example mine is N910F)

It's in your settings, under 'about device' and then 'model number'

I've got an n910v, verizon using metropcs simcard and carrier. Should I be looking at carrier specific root to keep data and everything running, or stay device specific? All I want to do is debloat, not looking for roms or anything.

Hi, I'm sure there is mention somewhere on the forum that Verizon phones can't be rooted, nor AT&T, they don't like you being able to wriggle out from under their control. Phil

well, it is a lot more difficult to root a Verizon phone, not impossible.

the easy way to turn off apps you don't want with a stock Samsung phone is to use Program Disabler Pro... very easy check off list, all apps in one place so you can see them all at once.

Package Disabler Pro (Samsung) - Android Apps on Google Play

I've already disabled everything vz related, but I would like to really free up that space for more device storage. I have sd maid pro, been using it forever on every device I've ever owned but was curious if I could root or not to use it on this device to clean it out proper. I've been trying to research, but keep conning up with dead ends so I'm leaning more towards I'm probably out of luck unless I can find someone with a tmo/mpcs note 4 that would be willing to swap.
