Note 4 or Droid Turbo Verizon

down to two phones droid turbo or samsung note 4. Now I have tested both and both can fit in my pocket totally fine. I like both although the turbo is cheaper with the 100 dollar automatic trade in.

I love the turbo for its battery its probably better than the note 4, but its overall look and feel is no where near as impressive as the note4.

What do you guys think if you looked at both phones side by side?

Both phones have about 22 o 23ish after you turn the phone on.
 
Initial reviews show that in spite of the smaller display and bigger battery, the Note 4 battery life is longer. Also, N4 wifi has better range and is more stable.

Still rated a good device. No sd slot though made it very dead to me.
 
Also, check your local best buy sales for this week. Mine had $200 trade for any working smart phone and a 2yr contract for the note 4.
 
I haven't been a fan of Motorola devices since the days of the original Razr. I wish the radios in the Motorolas could be transplanted into other phones, but other than that, I'm not impressed by anything coming out of Moto these days.

The lack of SD card is a pretty big drawback for me as well.

Without sounding like I'm exaggerating too much, so far my real world use of my Note 4 has been giving me the best battery life of any Samsung device I've ever had.
 
I suspect that when you ask that question in this forum the answers are going to tend to be "Note 4", however if you were to ask the same question the Droid Turbo forum I'd bet you'd get the opposite answer. :)

Like so many other things, it comes down to personal preference.
Compare the specs, view them side by side if you can, pick the one that YOU like the most.
 
how big is your sd card slots? I really like the note4 but worried about the speaker, call quality and radio signal. Can someone help me with that?

Its either a 32gb note 4 or 64 gb turbo
 
External speaker is not something Samsung has ever placed much emphasis on in any device. If that is a deal breaker for you, then you might not like the Note 4 (or any other Galaxy device for that matter).

The Note 4 has a standard Micro SD slot.

Call quality is just fine to me, it is no better or worse than any other device I've owned. I normally use ear buds as much as possible for making calls, and it performs very well in this regard.

Radio signal is at least on par with my S4 as far as I can tell so far. That would mean it is a pretty average signal. Motorola has definitely figured that particular area out.

What will your main uses of the phone be? Work? Play? both?

For me, the ability of this phone to be a multitasking device with the S-Pen is simply outstanding. I really like the screen, and the battery life so far has been amazing--especially considering the size of the screen and the performance I am used to with my other Galaxy devices.

Calling, texting is a must of course. I use plenty of apps and browse interent. I do play games like madden and angry birds which the note4 would be great for. I do also stream video like shows on comcast app ad listen to the radio on my phone as well. what is an internal speaker?

I do use speaker phone in the car or when my ear hurts.
 
A key IMO is the battery life with same type use is actually longer on the Note 4 than the Turbo. Especially screen on time. My guess is that in spite of the smaller display, the Qhd display of the Turbo is older tech like the G3 display.

Notice Moto was not touting screen on time with their claims, but phone use.

Very true, but reviews are supporting that the Turbo is "inferior" in some key regards: Battery life, wifi, camera, video and display. Performance is equal, but nothing trumping except if prefer an easier one hand use device.

Added: I am surprised that the battery life is apparently less, but if the display is less power efficient, Qhd can be a liability in spite of the bigger battery and smaller display. G3 is an example.

The SD card slot can hold up to 128 gigs from what I have read. I have a 64 gig in mine that suits my needs on top of the 32 that comes with the phone. It also has ultra power saving mode that dumb the phone down to just bare use so that it can last for days on end. The note series is known for top notch multitasking. It all comes down to what is important to you
 
another problem i have with the droid trubo is there is no removeable battery. Now a battery being charged over and over again will eventually fade or lose power especially on a charger or wireless charger?
 
Yes, all of these batteries will eventually start to 'fade' as you put it (which while probably not technically a correct term, it is very descriptive of what happens to them as they get weaker), regardless of which method of charging is used.
 
I just went through this very same decision process and ended up with a Note 4. I am 100% happy with the decision and am convinced that the Note 4 is the best phone on the market right now.

I came from an out-of-contract S3 and was initially holding out for the Xperia Z3. When the Verizon version came out and was a complete disappointment, I decided to wait for the Turbo. I tried to love that phone but the screen, camera, and lack of expandable storage and swappable battery finally killed it. I then gave the Note 4 a shot, halfway expecting to return it. I'm now over a week in and totally in love with it. The size is less of an issue than I expected, and the overall experience is even better than I imagined. The screen is basically perfect, the battery lasts all day with ease, the camera is great, and the radio reception is far better than the S3.
 
I had a turbo for 2 weeks. Great phone but I had an issue where the screen would go black and I would have to use the power + down volume to restart every time. This happened several times over a few days. My brother had already purchased a note 4 and I was able to play with it so I made the switch. I've never been happier with a phone, but aside from my issue the turbo is a great choice if you want a smaller screen.
 
I am on my thrid day of trying the note 4. the reason why i picked this is because it has a removeable battery and power/ultra power save mode which turbo does not. how was the turbo battery? The only thing is the its so huge its hard to fit in pocket without sliding out.

Unplug at 7am, go to work, come home around 5:30pm and I'm at 85+%, where with the Turbo, I was easily down in the 60's. I think the Turbo drained way too much in standby, without the screen on or anything. I've got virtually the same setup on my Note that I did with the Turbo, and the standby on the Note is amazing.

When I started with the Note 3, it took me a couple weeks to get used to the size. Now I don't think I can live without it. The Turbo seemed kinda small after a year with a phablet. :)

so standby time is a problem for the turbo? It does not have power save or ultra power save mode that is probably the issue. or part. at work do you ever use your phone because that is great standby time. Maybe did you put on ultra save mode. power save? im already at 58 percent at 12:09pm after unplug at 6:30am. With light to mod app usage some radio, some gaming and 10mins of video. This is day 2/3. I hope it gets better.
 
I only had my Turbo for 8 days, and don't believe I found a powersave setting. I recall reading somewhere that Moto didn't put a powersave option because they felt it didn't need it with the largest stock battery out there. They didn't however consider that their OS eats up that battery more than it should :)

At work, I use my phone moderately, check and respond to emails when I'm not at my desk, maybe a handfull of texts each day, and some web surfing, and occasional quick games on breaks and lunch. I explored the powersave settings on the N4, but have yet to even really use them as I haven't had a need for that yet.

Right now, I'm at 90% with 7hr 33min on battery, and my screen time is 1hr 45min. (Possibly a little more on screen time than I normally average during a work day.

I keep WiFi on all day, and am connected to our internet at work, and usually have 4-5 bars of voice signal. That is a good factor of battery usage. If you have poor signal, it will drain your battery fast. My old Note3 had horrible reception, and at home it would drain real fast as I couldn't get much signal, but with my Note4, I get great signal, and my battery lasts longer.

One thing I do, is often clear the recent apps by tapping the recent tab button, then tapping close all. I do this usually every time I am ready to turn the display off.

If you go to your battery setting, what do you see as the top culprits? Mine are usually
1. screen
2. android system
3. android OS
4. cell standby
5. phone idle

wow you must get more battery than me my time on is 1 hour 37 mins and 44 seconds. Battery at 84 percent.

Got 84 percent on 2 hours and 37 mins. Could I have a defect battery or maybe i use different apps than you.

If you had the "backup to the cloud" option turned on for your google account, when you activated your Note 4 all of the apps you had installed will load automatically. This is not necessarily a good thing. You're better off loading those apps individually and making sure you don't load ones you don't plan to use. It also allows you to make sure those apps aren't running in the background unnecessarily.

I have not seen very many people complaining about battery performance who actually had defective devices. For the most part they were app happy and didn't set the devices up properly.

You might want to make sure you haven't done the same thing.

FWIW, I unplugged at 0630 this morning. Been streaming audio for about an hour this morning, WiFi, GPS and BT on, several trips to customers with Waze running, phone calls, emails, texts, a few tapatalk posts here and there, BT connected to my vehicle each time out, brightness manually set at 60-70% because I've been outside in the bright a lot today, and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. Battery is currently at 66% (9 hours, 30 minutes, with 25% screen time). On my S4 I'd be lucky to be above 30% right now with that same level of usage.

How are you getting 3 more hours with 66 percent left are u using power save or ultra power save mode?

Yea had back up cloud but that was first day and it did not install all my pics or apps either oddly just the ones i use. After that this phone has had 3 normal charges and days. All better than droid4 but not as good as yours.

I also noticed that a ten min call dropped my precentage by 3.
 
I am also getting much better stand by on my note 4 than I did on my turbo. I am at 19% battery 19 hours and 5 hours of screen time. I do use my phone differently than you though. I don't do much gaming on my phone.
