Help Note 4 running slow

Bluetuna

Newbie
I recently installed an update on my Note 4. It seems to be running much slower now. Anyone have any tips on how to speed it up? Would rooting the phone make it faster?

Without anything else that has changed, save for the update, you may need to factory reset it. Sometimes, but not always, after an update, old stuff gets left behind and causes lag or other types of wonkiness. Yes, that's a word lol :D

Anyway, what I suggest first is to boot into recovery and clear only the cache, then reboot.
I believe to boot into recovery on a Samsung, you power off the device.
Then, while holding the home button, press and hold the volume up button, then while holding those 2 buttons, press and hold the power button.
You will then see some blue lettering on the top and feel the phone vibrate shortly.
Then let go of all buttons and your recovery will show up.
From there you can navigate the options using the volume up and down buttons, and then the power button to select the highlighted option.
You can also reboot normally from there after clearing the cache. ;)

So I cleared the cache. Still feels like it's running a little sluggish. I'm going to do the factory reset.

If that doesn't work, do you have anymore suggestions? I've noticed in the past that updates can slow down devices. I had some Apple devices in the past that got so slow that I couldn't even use them anymore (original Ipad).

Does rooting improve speed at all?
