Try disabling VoLTE and make sure wifi "smart switching" is disabled. Then restart your device. You disable volte under the phone app, hit "more" and then go to settings. Volte is voice over lte

thank you for the reply. smart switching is indeed off but as for the volte setting I'm seeing no such setting in my phone app or anywhere in the network settings

Honestly, just set-up your phone as you see fit & use it for a week or so.
If battery life hasn't improved, look in the Battery settings,or,in the meantime, install Better Battery Stats OR GSAM Battery Monitor for a clear, more concise picture of what's going on.

If battery life is truly horrible, consider taking the phone back within the grace period for a replacement, unless you've figured out the culprit.

Mine was really bad day one. Days two, three, four, and today have all shown better results. Yesterday averaged about 4.9%/hr and today so far is 3.5%/hr. I'm doing about 4-4 1.2 hours per day of screen on time (S0T). Just set it up like you want and wait a few days before making any conclusions about battery life.

The battery drain issue is a non issue so far for me. Typical new phone/battery. It took just the first 2 complete charge/drain cycles and my battery stabilized. Now on day 5 and everything is perfect 15hours 37 minutes off charge 67% remaining battery life or as claimed 1 day and 7 hours to go on battery. I did read about cell standby draining the battery and that was at the top of my list prior to this post. Ive been running with wifi off and that does not even appear now. I'll leave it off except for streaming music for 2 hours later today at the gym. I'll let you guys/girls know the results. I am TOTALLY satisfied so far.
