Note 5 Email issues

I just got the Note 5 and set up my yahoo email like any other Android I've ever used. When I delete my email messages, they end up back in my inbox as unread after my device syncs. So I googled it, and changed my incoming server settings to a POP3 & changed "delete email from server" to the "when deleted from inbox". (It does not give me this option on the IMAP.) Anyways, this does fix the problem. However, it presents a new problem. Now all the spam comes through into my inbox. When I try to mark it as spam, it does not give me the option to mark it or move it to another folder. The only options it gives is to "mark as unread" or "star" this message. I can simply delete it, but you know how spam multiplies! When I switch back to the IMAP, it does give me the option to mark as spam, but then I'm back to my original problem of deleted messages ending back up in my inbox. I've had many Androids and NEVER have had this problem. I'm confused and frustrated. Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? I've googled all day and have found no answers.

I am using Yahoo on the default email app on the phone. My settings are as follows:
incoming server settings:Imap.mail.yahoo
Outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

I am not having the issues you are saying. I gave it a try and it's not doing the same for me. I hope this helps.

@restoltz06: You do NOT want to use POP3. Go back to IMAP. You might have to delete the account and re-enter it to do this. In fact, you should.

Here's the general settings for Yahoo as IMAP:

https://help.yahoo.com/kb/imap settings-yahoo-mail-sln4075.html

After doing basic setup of the account as IMAP again, check some things. Your email client might not be communicating correctly with the Yahoo mail server. 1-3 below will, to put it very simply, try to force it to pay better attention. The exact wording for these might be a little different in your app, but the concepts are the same. Choose the closest match in your app.

These should be in IMAP options:

1. If your email app has a setting for 'EXPUNGE when deleting' set it to 'Send EXPUNGE after moving/deleting messages.'
2. If it has an option for 'Which message date/time to download' choose the option 'Date/time received (by the mail server)'.

This option may be elsewhere in the app:

3. There should be a setting for 'Remove deleted messages'. Set it to 'Remove local copies of messages no longer on the server.'

4. Make sure all computers and devices accessing this account have the same setup.

5. Of course, you need to make sure sync is enabled, and enabled for esch folder you want to sync.

Yahoo can be problematic because they don't follow IMAP standards properly. They don't even support push email via the IMAP_IDLE command. If your Yahoo account still doesn't work correctly you are not alone. You can try 2 more things:

1. Try another email client.
2. Get rid of Yahoo.

I recommend K-9, Maildroid or better yet, AquaMail for #1.
Gmail for #2. Nobody should have to put up with Yahoo.
