My nexus 5 just broke and I need a new phone asap.

Was contemplating b/w NOTE 5 and S7.

I realize that the S7 is superior in almost every way, including performance and battery life, but I personally like the bigger screen of the note 5, the s-pen and the overall aesthetics of it much better than the s7. Now, I don't know if I'll be using the pen very much, but it's one of those things that I might start doing if I have it. I definitely like styluses and personally use a windows surface myself. However, the NOTE 5 is a year old and the S7 just feels like the smarter/logical choice.

I was wondering if anyone who has upgraded from NOTE5 to s7 or has used both could provide some insight?

I personally don't care much for the expandable storage on the S7; I know some people are religious about removable battery and extra storage. So, this is not a big enough difference to decipher the two. I need to make a decision by the end of the day, so I'd appreciate some input.

Whatever I do buy, I plan to stick it for the next 3 years. My most important priorities are: battery life, multi-tasking capacity, and overall functionality/productivyt. Right now, both of these phones are so comparable, I simply can't make a decision. Note 5 is more attractive to me, but the S7 is functionally superior.

FYI...I need to get a phone ASAP, so I can't wait for the NOTE 6.

Thoughts?

I have the note 5 and love it. It's still on lollipop and with the stock battery I get 9 hours on beast mode. Because of where I work my phone is always looking for signal so I think that is the reason for the fair battery. At home I get 18-24 hours. Last week I got the Mophie battery case, it's expensive but I have 11 hours left after work.

Get the Note5:
Productivity/multi-tasking is your main concern, the S-Pen offers a lot of neat features.
I'd say it's worth it vs the S7.
Most people are now seeing the update to Android 6.x Marshmallow & you will no doubt see Android N at some point.
You might be able to get a deal on a refurb/Certified Pre-Owned device as well,T-Mobile is already clearing out their Note3/4/5 & Note Edge refurbs, all are available on-line & most T-Mobile stores keep CPO devices on-hand.................

Note five I have both and the note 5 runs just as smooth sometimes a bit smoother. And has the better battery life!

At work, three of our phones were due for upgrade, two of us got the S7 edge and I got the note 5. I know you are looking at just the s7 but I'll throw in my comparison if it helps you. Looking at both phones in front of me, the S7 edge does have a slightly better feel. It's smoother all around and slips in and out of my pocket a bit easier than the note 5. Without a case on either, I don't mind the note 5 at all. If size and pocket fitment are important to you than take this into consideration. The screen is clearly brighter on the s7 and the colors more rich. That being said, the screen on the note 5 is plenty bright and rich for me, and bigger for sure. The advertised size of the s7 edge includes the curved portion and is not all that usable for me. I have never used a stylus before and questioned whether I would find it useful. I find myself using it all the time, I totally dig it and it really helps me with productivity. Taking notes, updating google docs, taking screen clips and emailing them, dual apps on the screen, etc. I'm sticking with the note 5 for sure.

My girlfriend and I were facing the same dilemma a week ago, we both settled on the Note 5. Personally, the stylus and the style do it for me. I think the S7 is ugly as sin...

I'm facing the same choice. I'm leaning towards the Note5 because of the wider screen which is better suited for internet browsing. I don't like the narrow stick form-factor of the S series. If there was a phablet with wider screen, I would certainly buy it.

I have been using Note 5 & love it for its looks, smooth performance, audio quality & Camera - both still & video - quality. Regarding battery life, I'm easily getting one full working day of battery life. I don't do gaming but I'm using every other feature, Stylus included.
One great feature that Samsung doesn't highlight at all, is the Heart rate sensor & Pulse Oximeter, by which one can measure one's Heart Rate & oxygen saturation in blood. These are integrated into a superb, preinstalled S. Health app. Not many phones have it. For some curious reason, Samsung doesn't even mention it on the box. In fact, it can advertise this feature for its advantage.
All in all, It's a superb piece of engineering. U won't regret if u go for Note 5. However, I have not used S7, so don't know how it fares in comparison.

You will be waiting a ling time. There will be no Note 6

Going directly to Note 7 LOL

It's all Dollars and sense to me. I got the T-mobile Note 5 Factory Refurb (Excellent condition)(using it on AT&T) $380 after unlock. (and now rooted)
I'm not paying 600+ for the s7 with locked bootloader
