Note 7 Battery Longevity and Performance - Best Practices?

What's the protocol for charging the Note7 battery, to maximize its service life, and its capacity throughout?

Keep it on the charger at all times, except when charging facilities aren't at hand?

Or, charge it full, then use it until some amount partially, or fully, discharged?

Should fast charging mode be used only when necessary, or can it be used exclusively, all the time?

On a related note (yes, that's a pun!!):

At some point recently my Note 7 asked me if I wanted to enable power saving mode. I said yes, and chose the 'medium' strength profile. It has made a huge difference in slowing down my rate of battery discharge. I would say I was seeing about 1/2 to 2/3 of a day of pretty active use eating up most of my charge, before enabling power save mode. Now, it looks like I can easily get through a whole day, without starting to descend into sub-50% remaining charge territory, much, or at all. I'm starting to actually get the urge to not keep the phone plugged into the charger all the time, because of it. Before, I definitely wasn't seeing battery longevity that stirred such thoughts..

1) you should not keep your phone plugged in at all times. batteries need to cycle.
2) fast charging mode is , to me, only good if you need a fast bump with no knowledge of when you'll be able to charge again. I use a wireless charger 98% of the time. The other 2% is mixed between a bump in the car (or left plugged in while on a long trip and streaming music and/or navigation) and while I'm tethering (unless I have plenty of battery and I'm home for the night).

as far as the battery saving mode, I didn't pay this much money to restrict my phone (edited because apparently saying ret*ard is banned, despite multiple meanings). if I need to EXTEND the life, I'll strip it down. otherwise, it's full performance all the time.

At least it's good the PC Police haven't banned your Avatar! :D

I typically use the power saving modes, when I'm at my office desk or prior to sleeping. I've been able to manage a little over 1.5 days, which isn't too bad at all. What I do notice is that the drain on the Note7 is significantly more than my Mate 8. I still have yet to experience another top of the line smartphone that can compete with the Mate 8, when it comes to a combination of performance and battery life (well, specifically non-rooted devices).

So what exactly does choosing either the MID or MAX mode options for battery saver do to the phone. Just wondered.

MID reduces the screen resolution from QHD to 1080p, and MAX reduces it to 720p. I'm not sure that either setting throttles the processor or anything, but knocking that resolution down from QHD will save a ton of battery. It'll also make the screen look increasingly worse ;)
