Note/List App Recommendations?

There are SO MANY different apps for taking notes and keeping task lists, and so many different people and sites that have so many different recommendations! I would really appreciate if anyone has some advice on an app that best fits my needs. I have a Moto Atrix 2 running 2.3.5 and AT&T.

I tried ColorNote first, and it seemed like it would do: checklists, widgets, different sizes, etc. But I was really irked by the pastel color scheme, so I tried Astrid. I loved the slicker visual scheme and the way that, when you check items off your list, they vanish from the widget, but was intimidated by the sheer number of features and the quiet but irritating way it pokes you asking to buy the full version. I thought, before I buy, maybe I should ask around and see what else people like.

My main requirements from a note app are:

  • Must be able to function with data and wifi off, since I keep those off most of the time.
  • Must have a widget that can be added multiple times to home screen to show multiple lists/notes. Multiple sizes of widget would be preferred.

  • Must be free or have a free trial/free with ads/free limited version that I can try before I buy.
  • I have not rooted my phone and I don't plan on it, so, no rooting. (I like my warranty, tyvm.)

  • Would prefer to have something that looks slick as opposed to silly. E.x., Astrid as opposed to ColorNote. But if it's the most awesome app out there, I'll put up with silly.
  • I don't sync my notes between my computer and phone. So if it does have sync options, they need to sit quietly in the background and not bug me.

Thank you for any advice or recs!

I'm number 1 for "ColorNote". Its simple, easy to use, can use without a data connection. (Looks just like the real thing.) Has auto/manual online sync and SD card backup options. Has a calendar, trash can (Can recover deleted notes/list.) Can achieve notes/list to clear up workspace. Multiple was to sort list. For example, say you have 30 items on a list, you've checked off 10 items throughout the list. Select the sort button by status and only the unchecked items are shown first. (You can sort by alphabetical order too.) Has a lot of reminder and notification options.
