what can I do to stop a repeating text notification

Your options are:
1. Stop it at the source. Contact the sender and convince them to stop, or file a complaint with the appropriate authorities.
2. Contact your carrier and see if they can block it.
3. Use a blacklisting app on your phone to discard it without ever bothering you. Here is one I've been trying lately:

Which phone do you have? If its just a repeating notification because you haven't read it, you can change the settings.

If you are using a 3rd party text app you need to disable the notification in the stock app. Go to the stock messaging app-menu-settings and uncheck notifications.
