Notice of Account Change email?

AnciusD

I don't understand this email that I got today. What account change? In December I got the text msg about upgrading from Beyond Talk to the Unlimited Talk/Text/Data(2.5GB): I'm used to getting billing notices by text so I don't know why I got this email. Does anyone know what this message means? I checked my account and can't see anything different or unusual.

Subject: Notice of Account Change

My Name:
Your next monthly payment is coming up. Your card on file will be charged $35.00 on 02/28/2015. State & local taxes may apply.
If successful, your service will be good for the next month.
This message is about your account ending in nnnn.

They probably meant "charge", instead of "change"...VM is notorious for misspelling words.

I get texts and emails and usually a day or two apart, not very organized on this for sure!

I get both also and yes they come on different days.

I was taken by surprise since up until now I've only received texts. (I do get payment confirmations via email but never before the pre-billing notice.) So far, I haven't received a text this month, usually I get it around the 20th, so still early yet. Also, it said Change and not Charge to account. Template messages are typically vetted.

Does this look familiar?

Oh geez guy just call them and get an answer all ready. LOL
Just joking.
I get texts only never an email. It may just be spam. Wait it out if something goes wrong with your account then call them.

As I recall, vm requires that you give them your account and pin# before providing any individual help. (A lengthy post on this subject in this forum sticks in my mind. )

Not really that concerned. My initial inquiry can be reposited as an indirect poll of how users are notified and variances in wording.

Yeah not planning on pursuing it with vm. Will take another look at my account later.

Yes they do ask for account and pin number. I have called on a few occasions always got the answers i needed, Help, Credit for lost service, Free month for slow internet and just general help along the way, I have never had a problem with my pin number. But if your nervous about the pin leaking just change it after you hang up with them.

Yeah, I've had occasion to do the same in the past. And as previously noted, a 6-digit pin can be quickly cracked by a script faster than your cup of coffee can get lukewarm.

Today I received the same email, including the same codes. I took a screen shot and asked them about it on Facebook. The rep there said no change was made on my account, and agreed it was probably intended to say "charge" instead.

Looks like someone wasn't paying careful attention to what they wrote (as long as it passes spell-check, right?). Maybe they'll correct it after having it pointed out

Thanks for the feedback. Oddly, I'm now overdue for the usual text message version of the notice. Oh well. C'est la vie-m.
