Notification Bar Settings Count Badge

JAARONHALES

Lurker
This has been a problem on my Note 8 for some time and I haven't been able to find a solution so far. When I pull down the notification bar, the settings icon in the top right corner shows a number (it has been 2 for months now). The problem is, when I click on it, it takes me to settings but there is nothing in there showing a notification (shown in the second screenshot). I have no idea where to go to manage/dismiss the notification. I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone has to get rid of that badge.

Since you did not list any troubleshooting steps you may have taken,

Did you clear the phones cache? This involves using power up+bixyby key+power key and choosing clear cache in the boot up screen.

Are you using the stock samsung launcher or 3rd party?

Do you have a 3rd party launcher installed?

Are you rooted?
What is the carrier you are on?

Thank you marctronixx for the advice. I just tried your suggestion of clearing the cache and still have the same notification badge.

Previously I have tried restarting the phone and going to each of the main menu settings to see if there were notifications in there, but there are none.

I am using Action Launcher, but have also tried reverting back to TouchWiz to try and correct the problem. I have gone into each app that has a notification badge to clear all of those without any success clearing the notification bar badge.

I am not rooted and my carrier is AT&T.

In that second pic there's something flagged by the Software update icon. When you open that up is there anything listed?

If you try opening up the Play Store app, tap on the three horizontal lines icon in the upper left, and select 'My apps & games', perhaps there's something flagged there like a failed app update?

Also, try clearing the app caches for the TouchWiz and the Action Launcher apps in your Settings >> Apps menu. A lot of people don't distinguish between the system cache and app caches because both have 'cache' in their names but one relates only to the operating system while the others to their respective apps. If that notification badge is tied to the launcher (???) than wiping the system cache partition wouldn't affect it.

Tried Google Play and there was nothing there. All "My apps & games" are updated and there are no errors.

I don't believe it it launcher specific because it is in the System Notification Bar and it also appears in both Touch Wiz and Action Launcher, but I did just clear both launch app caches and it is still there.

Well, that was just a possibility, the launcher determines a lot as far as the overall user interface.
Out of suggestions but I'd keep looking into your Settings, some of the options have their own sub-menus too. Disappointing that #2 isn't more revealing just as is though.

its most likely an issue with the launcher interfering with the badge count.

i use nova and tesla unread and had an issue with a couple of apps that showed badge counts (textra) but with no unread messages.

eventually an update from the devs corrected the issue.
