Notification counts wrong

On my VZ wireless Note 9, my notification counts on messages are whacky, showing for example 11 unread messages when there is just one. Also I see some old notifications coming back up in the recent events screen, for example weather alerts that are 10 days old.

Any clues about how to fix or debug this?

Reboot the phone

Clear cache. It’s online how to do this. Very simple.

If you are usiung a launcher app, clear its cache and clear the app cache of other apps that may be acting up.
