Notification Sound Issue

Hi guys,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, as I'm new here.

I have a problem with my sound notification that I need some help with.

I have a HTC Desire running Android 2.2 & I have downloaded some custom sounds to use for ringtones & notification sounds. The downloaded sounds show up in the list in 'Phone Ringtone', but they do not appear in the list 'Notification Sound'.

I think I may have made the error of selecting Android Sounds as the default list to show in 'Notification Sound'.

Is there any way I can unselect this as a default, or to make all the downloaded sounds appear in the 'Notification Sound' list?

Thanks in advance, for any help/advice. :)

Try using ringdroid, available in the market. Also i think it mainly has to do with the file structure you put the sounds in. Off top of head i don't remember but its something like (create these folders) sdcard>media>(create both the next 2 in media)ringtones>notifications... (i know its something like this, please anyone that knows for sure chime in, thanks)

Also usually i would move this to the Desire section but since this is a general android section i'm gonna move it to Android Media section

Create a folder on the root of your SD Card named "notifications" no quotes, no caps. Now just move the sounds you want to use as notifications into that folder. You can do the same thing for "alarms" & "ringtones".

Edit: Damn you NightAngel, beat me to it! :p Also, I don't think you have to make all those other folders - at least I didn't for a Hero, Moment and Evo.

I beat you cause i;m the one who moved this thread here!!:p:p

And i didn't have to create those folders at all, i used zedge. I just kept hearing that was the best way(i might of been wrong about the folders though) your way seems much easier so the professor should try that first

I have never created folders, as I'm pretty new using Android & no computer expert, but I will give it a go :)

I downloaded Ringdroid & that works pretty well. Zedge was the other one I was using, but the sounds I got from that didn't show in the 'Notification Sound' list.

Thanks a lot for the help & such quick replies!

when you go to menu>settings>sounds>notifications mine asks me if i wanna make the change with htc or zedge, if i hit zedge it shows me only what i downloaded with zedge, if i hit htc it shows me only what i have in an appropriate notification folder....

Right, so did mine, but I made the error of checking the box, to make showing the HTC/Android sounds default & now the Zedge ones don't show up.

It would be good to be able to uncheck said box, but it hasn't shown up again & I don't know where to find it.

I know its menu>settings>applications>all then you go to the program and scroll down, you will see 'clear defaults' button... can't find the htc ringtonechanger program in my list though...

Anyone know how to change the default????
