How do u set a ringtone for notifications text message
 
Welcome to Android Forums :)

I believe it depends on which SMS app you are using - on the stock app on my phone, you press the menu button (bottom right) and press "settings" and scroll down to the Notifications section - here you can choose which notification sound you want :)
