Notifications Ringtones

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and when I go to choose ringtones and notification sounds it opens the phones default chooser with a list of sounds. There's no way to maneuver to any folders. I have some custom ringtones and notification sounds that I would like to use but they are not listed. I have ES File Explorer Pro and cannot copy my sounds to the default ringtone or notification folders in order to see them when I go to choose.

1) Is there a way to have my phone to ask me which app to use and choose to open ES File Explorer Pro to select my custom sounds from a folder?
A) I've tried clearing ES File Explorer Pro cache and it is also not set as "default" for anything.

2) Is there a really good, minimalistic, app to manage my ringtones and notification sounds!

Thank you in advance for your time and answers.

I'm not sure whether this will help but on my HTC M9 I have 'Notification' and 'Ringtones' folders in my Internal storage into which I can put my custom sounds using a standard file manager (I use the HTC stock file manager), they are then available for selection through the normal 'Sounds and notification' settings process.
