Help Notifications while on call

My wife complains to me about a problem with her Droid 2. When on a phone call and she gets a notification, it beeps through the headset speaker (not external speaker) until she silences it. Very annoying.

My Droid X doesn't have this same issue, and to be quite honest, never spent the time to recreate the scenerio on her phone to make sure what she describes as the problem, really is.

So my question is simple, any way to disable notifications while on a call.

I use handcent SMS which is much better than the stock app. You can set it to vibrate while on a call or do nothing at all.

I have the same problem. Emails, texts, calendar reminders all make a loud BEEP while on a call. The other person can't hear it but it's actually caused calls to drop. I thought I saw a setting somewhere to change that but can't find it now.

thanks for that info on that. I downloaded the handcent SMS. Questions...is there a paid version that has no ads? Second....what exact settings did you use to customize the notification to send silent or vibrate while on a call. I just see setting the notification to silent or vibrate but nothing indicating while on call condition.
