Lurker
Can't seem to get my phone to use a downloaded jazz tune as a notification. How does one achieve this?

As long as the media format is compatible, just place it in a folder in your /sdcard folder called "ringtones" (no quotes) and then it should show up in your list when you go to assign ringtones.

Tune is compatible, have used it before but now since phone was repaired I can't get it back. under 'settings' - 'sounds and vibration',- Ringtone' I get the Zedge app and I can't get past it.

Hmmm, maybe zedge was broken in the update. Try uninstalling zedge (if you have a lot of customization through the zedge app, you might lose them) and see if your ringtone shows up.

Have uninstalled Zedge some time ago. Ringtone ignores the fact that it is no longer installed, and persists with the tune I don't want.

Ringtone is not top priority.......More important is notification. I am getting no sound despite setting up an imported Minions joke song. It is accepted as the default notification sound and if I test the volume it sounds OK, but an incoming text does not trigger the sound.

Which messaging app are you using? If I recall default notification tones are overridden by the tone set in the messaging app, or for each contact if the messaging app supports that. Try setting a custom ringtone (or default) within the app itself.

Before phone was repaired I could play an mp3 tune on it and was given the option of making it the ringtone. I can't seem to be able to do this now. Any ideas?
