Nougat for the Note 7? :)

So....

I'm very entertained and pleased by the idea of the potential to get to Android N on my Note 7 someday, and not necessarily in the too far off future. I wonder how close this would being us to that, assuming it is a correct expectation. It seems easy to believe it would be:

I mean, once Nougat is released for the Note 5, would it just be a matter of copying that ROM from a Note 5 and then installing it onto a rooted Note 7? Maybe you'd be having to forgo KNOX and Samsung Pay? That'd be kinda painful to me regarding the latter. But, I'd consider it. Once we get to a successor to the Note 7 being released though, then I'd be totally adventurous to find out just how far along my Note 7 could ultimately be brought.

You know, I should have thought more before I even posted that. I didn't stop and think long enough about it...:oops::oops:
It could work for a Nougat ROM made for the S7. All the internals are the same minus SPen and digitizer. Then, you'd have to have a rootable international version or be on the original US firmware version that a root method was found for.

It wouldn't work, specifically (although not exclusively) for the 2 reasons you mention, the SPen and Digitiser. ROMs have to be made specifically for the device they're being installed on.

In some cases, even different carrier versions of a device will only accept ROMs based on that carriers software.

I'm talking about a custom ROM ported from official stock. I've been flashing ROM's since 2010. It's been done with varying degrees of success many times.

I guess the big question would be did someone who did not turn in their Note 7 root it and just happen to be a ROM developer? Now way at all that Samsung will officially release one.

There are at least two custom ROMs in the TMobile section of XDA for the Note 7. Root was gained by exploiting a developer addition Sprint Note 7 with an unlocked bootloader that someone got hold of somehow. It took a lot of effort by devs to get it working on TMobile, but they did it. They are stuck on the original firmware the Note 7 was released with but even in that there is the freedom customize your experience however you want.
