NOVA - Arrange home screens in a grid

Hey all,

I am an Android newb who just switched from an iPhone, so forgive my utter cluelessness on a few things. I have one small question regarding a feature in Nova Launcher.

I've seen multiple videos of people organizing their desktop screens in such a way that, from the home screen, they can swipe up or down to access other screens. This is in addition to the "normal" swiping left or right to go between screens that I am familiar wirh, as an Apple user.

However, when I downloaded and opened Nova for the first time today, I only see the option to arrange my screens in one horizontal line. Is there a way to access the above feature that I am missing, or has that feature been removed?

Thanks much!!

You need the Prime version for those functions.

Edit: Ah, thought you meant launching apps/services from homescreens with swipes.

Nova launcher only swipes left and right to move among screens (not up and down). The graphic you posted was used when rearranging the order of screens, I think.

Limited answer ...

You could go to Nova Settings | Gestures & input and assign
Swipe up to Jump to page and define a specific page
Swipe down to Jump to page and define a specific page

You could then swipe left, up, right, or down to go to some different page.

I find the horizontals swiping with Infinite Scroll set to be more than adequate for five screens.

I know for a fact I've seen a launcher that does this. A friend of mine used it for long time. I just messaged him. When he responds I'll post a link. :)

This would be perfect!

I use four screens, plus a largely empty home screen. My hope was that I could have a center home screen, and surround it with the four screens with apps and widgets. So that way I can get to all my apps with just one swipe.

Five is an interesting number.

I happen to use five screens in Nova.
Left to right 1-2-3-4-5.
3 is my default home screen ... it only has the time and one icon ... the ides is that it is what a client would see if it was on the table between us.

2 and 3 I flick the screen once to the left or right to get the heaviest used screens.
1 I flick twice to the left to a lower used screen.
5 I flick twice to the right for things I have under development and/or test.

It is pretty easy to get from 5 to 1 with a flick to the right.

Using Nove (free), I can access this on my Alcatel One Touch Icon running 4.4.2, if I press the home button while on the home screen.

Pressing the home button again returns me to the home screen.

The Nova Gestures and Buttons settings has a Home Button setting.

Set it to Show Previews.
