Now Samsung is Developing their own Mobile OS???

According to Reuters, it seems like Samsung has decided to launch it's own proprietary mobile OS called "Bada" (I wonder if "Bing" will be it's default browser :p). The funny thing is that the article quotes Samsung as saying that "You need a proprietary system to drive growth in the smartphone market" (I guess the bada team at Samsung forgot to talk to their android team). The crazy things is that while they are doing this, not only is MS releasing its own proprietary OS, but HP is supposed to be doing the same with Palm. The article says there are now 9 major mobile OS' out there, and they expect a shakeout in the next couple of years. With android growing pretty much at the expense of every other major OS I'm wondering what these companies pushing for new proprietary systems offering more of the same, expect to gain. Anyhow, here is the article:
