Numbers on top!!

So ive received my new Nexus 6P, replacing my Galaxy Note 3, and straight away im disappointed to see that there isn't a 5th row showing the numbers all the time. It makes it so easy, and im gutted its now gone. Can I get it or do I need to get a new keyboard app?

The google keyboard doesnt put them on their own row. You can either long press the top row for smaller number sets or switch over to the symbols section for longer numbers.

Option B would be to use a different keyboard app

Found a way to display numbers on top using 6P default keyboard, but the layout is a little different. It's actually PC layout.
You can try it out.
1) Open Language & input under Settings
2) Tap on Google Keyboard under Keyboard & input methods
3) Tap on Appearance & Layouts
4) Tap Custom input styles
5) Tap on the + sign on top right
6) Select your preferred language and for Layout, select PC
7) Go back to Google Keyboard Settings and tap on Languages
From here, you need to disable the Use system language option so that you can choose Active input methods. You should see the language you setup in step 6 with the trailing word PC e.g. English (US) (PC)
Now you can Change keyboard and select the one with (PC). Hope this helps.

I love Swiftkey. I too wanted a number row above the letters, but I also love the arrow keys you can add to the layout, plus the color themes.

Man I've been googling this very thing for a long time and have used a Kit Kat keyboard, a black berry keyboard and non root LG G3 keyboards with no satisfaction. Then I tried Swiftkey again (used a few weeks when I first got the Sprint Photon 4G). Life is good again.

I love Swiftkey as well, except my only complaint is that I feel like it isn't very intuitive when you want to use the apostrophe key. Like say I'm typing a a word and am misspelling it per usual, if I choose Swiftkey's suggestion, but need to add an apostrophe, I wish it would know to delete the space it inserted after the word and just connec my 's seemlessly to the root word... a minor gripe, but happens fairly often to me

If I'm understanding your post..........I had some trouble with Swiftkey with some commonly used words that require an apostrophe. You can go into settings, language/input, personal dictionary and add your commonly used words. I also entered a few commonly used phrases that I tend to use. That solved my problem.
