O2 Samsung unlock codes

useroid

Newbie
Hi there.

I purchased a Galaxy Ace from O2 shop last year and am in the process of porting over to Three.

O2 tell me that it takes five days for them to supply me with the unlock code for the phone as they need to submit request to Samsung. Samsung tell me that that isn't the case and that all network carriers have special software that generate these codes themselves. I am also being told by O2 that there is a delay in getting these codes and it may take longer than five days.

My question is who is telling the truth?

Has anyone had this experience with O2.

Many thanks in advance.

Both are. (good choice in switching to 3, far better than O2) Samsung are right as generating the code doesn't take long but O2 don't have to give it immediately and Will cite admin etc a their reason for being slow. Realistically though its not high on their priority list as your no longer a customer!

I unlocked my own phone, given the method I used I would guess O2 are fobbing you off. Each code is stored in a file on the phone. I cannot remember exactly how I did it now but I believe the phone has to be rooted and you have to use adb as well. The guide I used was on the XDA site I think.

@PJ147: Thanks for replying. It just annoys me that there's so much bureaucracy involved in all of this. Three told me that they give the codes out almost immediately once a customer's contract is over and they ask for it. Yeah, I could have easily gone to a local phone shop and had it chipped for

both are true. it takes time to get codes from the service provider. but i dont know whether they'll submit the request to samsung or not. if you dont want to wait to get the codes you can get the codes from other online providers. there are many online providers online like Classicunlocking.com
