Hi guys, Inhave an issue when my brother is calling me from Slovakia from his mobile. 1 out of 5 times he cant hear me, so we have to hang up.
It is only him I have this problem with. So I contacted O2 and they advised me to reset my network settings. This did not help. Im not sure where to take it from here. Im wondering if there any specific settings for pixel 2 xl like there were on iphone for mms/data/vpn.
Im using simplicity O2.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you using Wi-Fi calling or traditional calling over the cellular network?

MMS/data/VPN settings don't have anything to do with voice calls. If you only have issues talking with your brother, it's possible that the problem may be on his end - or with his carrier.

Yeah, my money is on a network issue - likely on his end. Cellular networks have gotten a lot better than they used to be but you still occasionally run into glitches like this. I don't think there's anything on the phone that would cause what you describe.

it is weird, trough whatsapp we have no issues. Just cellular...1 out of 10 we hear each other. We will try to make a call from my mums mobile to see what happens. Will be interesting to see that outcome...
PS: by changing sim I got an unwanted sim toolkit app, which Im unable to uninstall unless in root mode. Some home study how to do that lol

I'm not exactly sure what triggers the pre-installed SIM Toolkit to become active, but you should be able to disable it if you don't want to use/see it:

Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Menu > Show system > SIM Toolkit > Disable.

My bad, it's been a while since I've had it show up on any of my phones so I couldn't recall exactly how it worked. The SIM Toolkit is actually a bit special, and it sounds like it was activated by your carrier (perhaps with a new batch of SIM cards?). I haven't actually found a way to disable it (without root).

it is a brand new simcard I picked up today indeed. Does rooting my phone involve any dangers that will involve me loosing everything on my phone? Sorry, I am a bit newbie with android :(

In order to root, you'd need to unlock your bootloader - which will force a factory reset in the process. It will also introduce hurdles to installing system updates, as well as breaking your ability to use Android Google Pay and other apps which depend upon DRM protections.

Honestly unless you have a pressing need for specific root functionality I wouldn't do it. If you really don't want to see the SIM Toolkit icon in your app drawer, you could install a third-party launcher with the option to hide selected apps.
