Root Odin/Heimdall cant find phone, USB wont recognize

cafonez

Newbie
I have a bad bad feeling my USB port on the phone isnt working right any longer. I have used ODIN before and worked perfect when I needed it, and I now need it again.

:(

I need to flash it back to stock and not sure if I can do so without Odin. I know I need to exchange my phone.

Here's what I have tried :
Ubuntu - Doesnt even see the phone
Linux Mint - Doesnt even see the phone
Virtual Box under Ubuntu - Doesnt see the phone, sees it as some type of YuIN camera USB 2.0 (went through basic steps even adding my linux user to vboxusers to avoid the usb error virtual box was getting)
Windows 7 - Unrecognized USB device (even after installing Samsung Drivers)

The funny thing is it still charges ok through USB. I have turned debugging on and off, multiple reboots with no luck. I believe I am in a bad bind.

Does anyone have any ideas? Appreciate any help in advance.

**Update**

For some very bizarre reason, Odin recognized it, then within 10 minutes, Odin removed it and unrecognized again. ack. guess I got a ten minute window attempt to flash it with Odin. wonder what happened to my usb port.

Sounds very similar to a problem I was having.

Try this; next time you connect it through USB, try inserting the micro end of the cable slowly into the phone. Once you hear windows recognize it, stop going deeper. It should be seen now.
