Off screen writing not working

I got my note 5 today and one of the things that sold me on it was the off screen writing. Is there some sort of trick to it? I made sure it was turned on in the s pen settings but no matter what I do it will not write on the off screen.

Go to SETTINGS > S-PEN > PEN DETACHMENT & select Screen Off Memo

Okay. I just fully read the description and figured out what I was doing wrong. I had the pen out when I turned the screen off. For it to work the pen needs to be in the holder slot prior to the screen being put off.

I'm having the same issue. Mine used to work but stopped. I love the feature. Settings are on, S pen is in but when I remove my pen and try to write on screen, I get nothing.
